Writing News

Things have been quiet lately on Taking Dictation, but I'm back to liven it up a bit. Something exciting is brewing in the writing department ... something like ...

A fairy tale retelling set during WWII! You didn't honestly think I'd set a fairy tale in any other time period, did you? =) I'm one of six authors who are currently working on retellings which will be sold in a boxset at the end of this year! It's going to be epic, guys.

My story is based on The Little Match Girl and set in war-torn Europe. I'm still in the early stages of writing the first draft, but I'll keep you updated as things progress.

In other news, I'm reenacting a lot this summer, started interning at a WWII museum, and I'm going to be flying in a B-17 later this month! Check out my instagram and Generation Remembrance to stay updated on all that jazz.

  1. Oh, you get to fly in a B-17?!?!?!?! I just might be super jealous right now. ;)
Two weeks ago we were able to watch a restored B-29 take off for the first time since WWII.
I can't even imagine how amazing it will be to fly INSIDE the plane!! :D
Oh, and the story sounds awesome! I'm looking forward to hearing more about it. :)

  2. AHHHHH! That. sounds. INCREDIBLE! Let me read it when you can! Oh and thanks for following my new account :D I'm trying to find all my blogger friends again and HAVE FUN riding in the plane! We've got classes for uni this semester in an old building that was once military intelligence.. how cool is that?!

  3. Oh that's so great! Congrats on the new project <3

  4. "The Little Match Girl" set in World War II????? PREPARE FOR ALL THE FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELS. I highly approve. (Although I expect it will make me cry.)

  5. Ooooh! I'm so looking forward to this new book series ^_^

  6. A book series?! You're seriously the coolest. Also I've never read The Little Match Girl, but now I'm curious. :)

    I miss you.

  7. Oh my gosh, Emily, I am sooooooo excited for this!!! I read Resist this last week, and it was so beautiful, I was a sobbing mess during the last few chapters. Good luck with your internship, etc... Your summer sounds fabulous. (-:

  8. Wow! What an incredible idea. I love WWII era historical fiction and I love fairytale retellings. I don't think I've ever read something in which those two genres are fused though! I'm pretty stoked. Keep up the great work Emily. Your hard work and output is inspiring.
